Christ Heckman, 77, a former Postville resident, but recently living in Ossian, passed away last Wednesday morning at the Decorah hospital where he had been taken after he had sustained serious burns while burning rubbish at his home in Ossian. Funeral services were held Saturday in the Zion Lutheran church in Castalia and interment was made in the Centennial* cemetery.

Christian Ludwig Heckman was born in Germany, coming to this country with his parents in 1883, locating near Postville. He was married to Minnie Brockmeyer on February 25, 1897, and she and the following children survive: Erwin, on the home farm near Ossian; Arthur, of Decorah; Leslie, in the army at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and Mrs. Harry Bothel of Ossian.

*Burial place given in the obit is incorrect, Mr. Heckman is buried & has a gravestone in the Hillside cemetery, Ossian.
