Sylvia I. Anderson was born Dec. 16, 1908 In Eagle Grove to Henry and Abbie (Harris) Damon and attended Eagle Grove area schools.
Dec. 10, 1927 she married Leslie Anderson in Des Moines. They lived in several Iowa towns before moving to the Waterville/Waukon area in the mid-1930s. She was a member of Waterville Lutheran Church and its women's organizations.
Sylvia died Sunday, Feb. 11, 1996 at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City; she was 87.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Geilenfeld of Rudd; a brother, Walter (Winnie) Damon of Brighton, MI; three sisters, Alta (Mrs. Bill) Turner of Knoxville, TN, Ione (Mrs. Jim) Sherlock of Allen Park, MI, and Myrtle Hawkins of Smithville Flats, NY, and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died Aug. 28, 1987; four brothers, Ike, Harris, Pete and Harry Damon, and a sister, Cleo Hill.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 at Waterville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kim Thacker officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Norman Thorsen, Willard Leiran, Rudolph Hesla, George Wood, Barton Hamm and Greg Hamm.
