Funeral services for Donald L. Cota, 57, Harpers Ferry, were held Tuesday, June 29 at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Robert Levenhagen officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
He died Saturday, June 26 in LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital following a lingering illness.
He was born Oct. 19, 1918 in Prairie du Chien, WI to John and Emma Cota. He married Mary Grady June 17, 1967. He was a lifelong resident of Harpers Ferry.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Clark (Sandra) Roeder of Elkader, two stepchildren, Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Points of Colorado City, CO and John S. Kaeser of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Keehner of Havasu City, AZ and Mrs. Gwen Settle of Milwaukee, WI and four grandchildren.
A sister, Mrs. Kermit Rutter, preceded him in death.
He was a construction and iron worker and a member of St. Ann's church, the American Legion and Lions club. He served in the armed forces during World War II and also in Korea.
Pallbearers were Rich, Jerry, Bob and Charles Cota and Dan and Cyril Grady.
Bakke and Hanson funeral home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
