Mrs. August (Amelia Caroline Sanderman) Hesse
Mrs. August Hesse, who was born in Ludlow township 81 years ago as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Sanderman, passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, after a lifetime of residence there.

-- Mrs. Hesse's death occurred Sunday at the home of her son Simon in Ludlow township, due to the infirmities of age, she having been in failing health the past five years.
As Amelia Caroline, daughter of Conrad and Caroline (Hager) Sanderman, she was born in Ludlow township November 29, 1863 and her home had been in that vicinity during her lifetime.
Fifty or more years ago she was united in marriage with August Hesse at the farm home of her parents. Five children were born to them who survive to mourn the loss of a beloved mother. They are Simon on the old home farm in Ludlow; Paul, also of that township; Mrs. Lydia Kruger, near Frankville; Mrs. Arthur Hilmer, Marion, Iowa, and Arthur Hesse of Winneshiek county.
Also a sister, Mrs. John Flage, Ludlow and three brothers, Edward Sanderman, Union Prairie township, Otto of Waukon, and Simon residing in the state of Oregon. There are 25 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon at Zalmona church, Ludlow, conducted by Rev. Johnson. Burial was in the nearby cemetery beside the remains of her husband.
The pall bearers were Henry Krumme, Elmer Jeide, Martin Opfer, Ralph Osterholtz, Alvin Brandt and Elmer Herman.
