Mrs. JOHN (Nona Waters) HOWES

Funeral services for Mrs. John Howes, 66 were held here Monday at St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. E. J. McDonald, pastor, celebrating the requiem mass. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mrs. Howes died Friday at Independence following a two-year illness.

She was the former Nona Waters and was born Nov. 10, 1876, in Allamakee County, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Waters. Following her marriage to John J. Howes, they farmed north-west of Waukon. Her husband died Oct. 6. 1938.

Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Joe Fahey and Mrs. Urban Magner, both of this vicinity; fours sons, William of Waukon, Clem of Burlington, Leo, who is with the Army overseas, and John of this vicinity; four sisters, Ella Waters of Waukon, Mrs. James Pigott of Ludlow, Mrs. Joe Schwarthoff of Kellogg, Minn., and Mrs. Joe Fahy of Creston; and two brothers, Maurice Waters of Dorchester and Thomas of New Albin.
