Victor P. Schiers, 81, of Harpers Ferry, died Thursday, February 26, 2004 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital. A Memorial service will be Monday, March 8, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann's/St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry. Military rites will be accorded immediately following the memorial service by the Harpers Ferry American Legion. Friends may call at the church on Monday, March 8, 2004 from 9:30am until the time of services.

Victor was born January 9, 1923 in Dubuque, son of Albert and Edith (Merz) Schiers. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater where he received the Purple Heart. He later worked as a telegrapher for the Milwaukee Road Railroad for many years.

He is survived by two brothers: Charles of Burlington Township, NJ and Donald (Donna) of Ft. Collins, CO; two sisters, Dorothy Curler of Davenport and Mae Fritschel of Washington State.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Robert.
