Carrie Hartung, nee Sass, was born January 12, 1868, in Germany. In her childhood her parents brought her to America, locating at Lansing, Ia. She was converted in her 15th year under the labors of Rev. L. Reep. She united with our Church and was faithful. In 1889 she was united in marriage to John Hartung. Six children were born to them; two of them preceded her in death. She was a faithful wife, a good mother and highly respected by every one who knew her. She suffered intensely during her long illness but bore it with Christian fortitude, and her confidence in her Savior never wavered. She died in the full assurance of a home in heaven, October 14, 1906. She leaves husband, 4 children, 1 brother and sister and a host of other friends.
