Harpers Ferry resident Joseph A. Martelle, 75, died Sept. 26 at the Allamakee County care facility.

He was born in Harpers Ferry on Oct. 2, 1909, the son of Cyprian and Angela Martelle. He was a laborer and a member of St. Ann - St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers. He attended grade school and two years of high school.

There are no immediate survivors. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Veronica) Hurm and Mrs. Paul (Wilma) Cahalan.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 28, at St. Ann - St. Joseph's Church with burial in Wexford cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Heineman conducted the 10:30 a.m. services which were arranged by Hanson's.
