Postville, Iowa -- Peter O. Meland, 92, of Postville died Sunday night at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Postville, with burial in Postville Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Wednesday at Schutte Funeral Home, Postville.
Surviving are a son, Harold of Monona, Iowa; two daughters, Irene Sloan of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Burnetta Peterson of San Diego, and 11 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Peter Meland were held Thursday, May 15, 1986 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Milo Meyer, Harlan Harnack, Harlan Sebastian, Leonard Thoma, Leslie Lawson and Forest Kelly.
Peter O. Meland, son of Lars and Berth (Anderson) Meland, was born February 13, 1894 in Clermont, Iowa. He passed away May 11, 1986 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.
He was baptized and confirmed and also attended school in Clermont.
On February 28, 1917 he was united in marriage to Mabel Meyer at Postville, Iowa. To this union three children were born He was employed by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad track maintenance section in the Postville area until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mabel, August 26, 1980, two sisters and a brother.
Surviving are a son Harold of Monona, two daughters, Irene Sloan of Santa Rosa, CA; Burnetta Peterson of San Diego, CA; eleven grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren
