AUGUST H. MEYER
August H. Meyer passed away on Tuesday morning at twenty minutes past two o'clock at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 8 days. For the last three years he had been confined to his home by illness which first was brought on by apolexy.
August H. Meyer is the son of Heinrich Meyer and Dora Kluss. He was born on February 9, 1860 at Guttenberg, Iowa, and was baptized by the Lutheran pastor of the town. In 1874 he renewed his baptismal vows in Confirmation at Elkport and was united in marriage in 1886 near Postville to Wilhelmine Krambeer. God blessed this union with one daughter and four sons.
Having farmed for three years near Postville and thirty years north of Hardin, he retired twelve years ago making his home in Monona.
In 1918 he became an active voting member of this congregation attending the business meetings and participating of the Means of Grace, and coming regularly to Divine Service as long as health permitted. Upon these outward signs of faith we build our hope that now he is at the Great Supper prepared for the redeemed, where the Lamb is praised and worshiped.
Those to mourn are: Mrs. Wilhelmine Meyer, nee Krambeer, Monona, Iowa; Mrs. Amanda Kruse, nee Meyer, Lily, South Dakota; Gustav Meyer, Andover, South Dakota; Bernard Meyer, Monona, Iowa; Ervin Meyer, Monona, Iowa, eleven grandchildren. His other son, Walter Meyer, died of the flu while in Camp Dodge in 1918.
Mrs. Meyer and children extend their thanks for the kindness shown them in their bereavement.
