Mrs. DONALD (Judy Ann Livingood) KUHSE

Funeral services for Mrs. Don Kuhse were held Sunday, September 20, 1998, at 3:00 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend T. M. Marks officiated. Ramona Everman was the organist, Levi Livingood played the piano and Ronald Meyer was the soloist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Judy Ann (Livingood) Kuhse, the daughter of Milo and Buelah (Ralston) Livingood, was born May 29, 1945 in Waukon, Iowa. She died Wednesday, September 16, 1998, in Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She had reached the age of 53 years, three months and 20 days. She was baptized October 10, 1961 and confirmed October 15, 1961 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Judy graduated from Postville High School in 1963.

On June 1, 1963 she was married to Donald Milo Kuhse in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville by the Rev. Charles E. Witt. To this union three daughters were born, Rhonda, Gail, who was born on Judy's birthday, and Vicky.

They farmed northwest of Postville for five years and then moved to their present farm in Grand Meadow Township. For over thirty years Judy worked on their farm, in the fields, and milking cows. She was an accomplished seamstress and had made her own wedding dress as well as those for her three daughters. She enjoyed her grandchildren and family and working in her garden. For the last two years, Judy was employed at Moore's IGA where she enjoyed her work and meeting people. She and Don had also managed Dreamland Ballroom in Postville for several years. For 13 years she served as the Fair Board Secretary of the Big Four Fair. Don and Judy had been instrumental in forming the Snowmobile Club. This past summer, Don and Judy had enjoyed camping with their family. Judy loved to cook and to have her family around her to enjoy the meals with them.

She is survived by her husband, Don, three daughters and five grandchildren, Rhonda and husband, Ray Curran, of Postville, and their children, Brenda, Rebecca, and Chelsea; Gail Livingood-Marsengill and husband, Kelly Marsengill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Caitlin; Vicky and husband, Duane Fisher, of West Chester, IA and Zeb; one brother, Roger Livingood of DeBary, FL and her parents, Milo and Beulah Livingood of Postville. She is preceded in death by twin sons, Dayton and Darrin Kuhse.

Judy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and the Prosperous Ridge Country Club. She had also served as a 4-H leader for over twenty years.

Casket bearers were Kenny and Donna Suckow, Craig and JoAnne Bodley, Roger Meyer, Rita Bente, Kevin Kohrs and Holly Kuhse. Honorary casket bearers were Rebecca Curran, Mike Benzing, Mary Farell and Jessica Kuhse.
