Mrs. FRED (Ann Henrietta Meyer) KUHSE

Mrs. Fred Kuhse, nee Ann Henrietta Meyer, the daughter of Wilhelm and Louise Meyer, was born August 4, 1881 in Fayette county, Iowa. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, on July 2, 1882 and confirmed on April 7, 1895.

She was married to Fred Kuhse on February 2, 1904. Rev. Bockelmann performed the ceremony at her home. To this union were born ten children, nine of whom survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Alma, who passed away at the age of 15; four brothers, Henry, Charlie and Arthur of Postville and Will of Castalia; one sister, Minnie, Mrs. Fred Brandt of Postville; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; nine children, Lillian, Mrs. Joseph Braun of Postville, Hulda, Mrs. Lawrence Block of Postville, Victor of Postville, Lorenz of Postville, Helen, Mrs. Orville Peterson of St. Olaf, Orma, Mrs. Victor Benzing of Jefferson, Wisconsin, Hilma, Mrs. Delbert Kohrs of Postville, Milo of Postville, and Pearl, Mrs. Charles Folsom of Froelich; two sisters, Lena, Mrs. John Weihe and Bertha, Mrs. Carl Schroeder of Postville; 36 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was taken to the Postville Hospital on February 16, 1962 as the result of a fall in her home, and she died on February 18, 1962 at the age of 80 years, six months and 14 days. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran church of Postville on Wednesday, February 21, at 1:30 p.m., with the pastor, the Rev. Charles E. Witt, officiating. Burial will be in the Postville cemetery.
