Evelyn Myrtle Kuhse, 85, died Monday, Nov. 28, 1994 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Charles Miller officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery with Schutte Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Born Sept. 21, 1909 in Clayton County, she was the daughter of Roy and Adele (Kruse) Koth. Evelyn attended rural school near her home, graduated from Monona high School in 1928 and studied nursing at the Postville Hospital where she was a nurse during the time of Dr. Schmidt.
Nov. 24, 1932 she and Victor Kuhse were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona. They farmed near Postville until 1973 when they moved to Postville.
Evelyn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and an honor roll member of Women of the ELCA. She was also a member of Bob's Creek Neighborhood Study Club and served as a Makee Manor volunteer for almost 25 years.
Surviving are four sons and their wives, Roger and Janet, Dale and Joyce, Donald and Judy Ann, all of Postville, and Clifford and Judie of Monona; 11 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband who died June 15, 1988; a sister in infancy; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Kevin, Kelly, Joel, Ken, Todd and Kim Kuhse and Laverne Snitker.
Honorary bearers were Harold, Kenneth, Ray and Foster Koth, Roy Ulish and Robert Rowland.
