Victor Kuhse

Funeral services for Victor Kuhse were held Saturday, June 18 at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Victor William Kuhse, son of Fred and Anna (Meyer) Kuhse, was born October 9, 1908 in Clayton County near Postville, Iowa. He died Wednesday, June 15, 1988 in Palmer Memorial Hospital at West Union, Iowa.

He was baptized November 22, 1908 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville by Rev. Kuhne and confirmed there August 26, 1925 by Rev. Fink. He attended the Postville Schools.

On November 24, 1932 he married Evelyn Koth in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Rev. Daugs was the officiating minister. The couple had 4 sons. They farmed south of Postville until 1973 when they moved to their present home in Postville.

Victor was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He had been a sponsor at baptism to Marvin Block, Arden Benzing, Cloy Kuhse, Gary Kohrs, Leo Folsom, Todd and Ken Kuhse and Vicky Kuhse.

He is preceded in death by 4 sisters, Hulda (Mrs. Lawrence Block), Orma (Mrs. Victor Benzing), Lillian ( Mrs. Joseph B. Braun) and Alma, who died at the age of 15, 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn, four sons, Roger and wife, Janet, Dale and his wife, Joyce, and Donald and his wife, Judy Ann, all of Postville and Clifford and his wife, Judie, of Monona, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 14 step great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Lorenz and his wife, Ivanelle and Milo and his wife, Opal, all of Postville and 3 sisters, Helen and her husband, Orville Peterson of St. Olaf, Hilma and her husband, Harlin Miller of Monona and Pearl and her husband, Charles Folsom of Waukon.

Casket bearers: Marvin Block, Cloy Kuhse, Gary Kohrs, Leo Folsom, Todd Kuhse, Kelly Kuhse, Ken Kuhse and Laverne Snitker.
