Eleanor R. Nolting, 81, of Waukon, died Tues., April 9, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Fri., April 12, at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, with the Reverend Richard N. Eick officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Eleanor Ruth Nolting was born Aug. 23, 1920, on the Jefferson Township farm of her parents, Harvey and Mabel (Larson) Stock. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ and attended the rural "Elk School" and Waukon High School.

On Nov. 10, 1937, she married Melvin Nolting at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed together in rural Allamakee County until 1967, when they moved to Waukon. Eleanor then worked at Letchford Studios, Jacobi's Clothing, and the City Club. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and its Ladies Circle, Ludlow Homemakers Club, and was a volunteer at Makee Manor for several years. She loved to shop, garden, play cards, and Bingo, and visiting with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; a grandson, Todd; a great-grandson, Cade; and a sister, Marjorie Meyer.

Survivors include two daughters, LaVonne (Ernest) Palas and Joyce (Gene) Knox, both of Waukon; one son, Gary (Faye) Nolting of Waukon; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ella Mae Dvorak of Ionia and Shirley (Thomas) Colson of Rochester, MN; a brother, Robert J. (Irene) Stock of Waukon; and two sisters-in-law, Florence Cooper and Ruth Nolting, both of Waukon.

Casketbearers were Steve Knox, Greg Benjegerdes, Greg Palas, Dave Martin, Chad Nolting, and Tim Anfinson.
