Ardys C. Nolting, 84, of Waukon, died Sat., Feb. 2, 2002 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held Wed., Feb 6 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon with Rev. Richard Eick officiating. Burial of ashes will be in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tues. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.
Ardys Cecil Nolting was born on Dec. 22, 1917 on the rural Waukon farm of her parents, August and Minnie (Hansmeier) Sunderman. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, attended the rural "Fan Elementary School", Waukon High School, and later received her GED.
On Dec. 1, 1934 she married Otto F. Nolting in Galena, IL. Ardys and Otto farmed before moving to Waukon in 1972 where she worked at the Waukon Bakery for several years. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and its Women's fellowship, the VFW Auxiliary, and served as a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul's. She enjoyed house keeping, sewing, fishing, spending time in the outdoors, and visiting with family and friends. She also liked to make scrapbooks of newspaper clippings.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Otto; a grandson, Mark Selberg; and a brother, Sidney Sunderman.
Survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Selberg of Waukon and Alyce (Gary) Hartgrave of Marion; three sons, Fred of Lansing, Ronald of Dubuque, and Donald of Nevada, Ia; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Honorary casketbearers were her grandchildren Kevin Ingles, Brad and Brian Selberg, Eric Hartgrave, and Clarissa and Logan Nolting.
