Mark Platt, a resident of Postville since 1937, passed away at his home here Monday forenoon following a lingering illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Schutte funeral home, the Rev. Eldon L. Seamans officiating. The remains were taken to Chicago today by Louis Schutte, mortician, and final rites and interment will be in that city.
Mr. Platt was born in Dubuque where he lived until 1902 when he went to Chicago. He was employed by Marshall Field & Company in that city for 35 years and during that time he spent his vacations in Postville. Upon retiring from his position in Chicago, he decided to move to Postville and with Mrs. Platt had lived here since 1937. Mr. Platt is survived by his widow and one sister, Mrs. Birdie P. Durno of Postville, and two sisters living in Chicago, as well as several nieces and nephews.
