Ada Mary Schara
Ada Mary Schara, daughter of William A. and Bernice (Horton) Granger, was born in Sumner, Iowa on August 8, 1901. She died in the Pueblo Norte Nursing Center in Show Low, Arizona on Sunday, January 15, 1995.
On October 26, 1921, she was married to Herman Schara, at Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, Iowa.
Ada taught country school in the Postville area both prior and subsequent to their marriage. She worked with her husband in his shoe repair business in Postville and in West Union, Iowa for over forty years. In 1969, they retired and moved to Holbrook, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herman, two brothers, Arthur and Bill, and a daughter, Mary Jean, who died in her youth.
Surviving are two daughters; Virginia (Mrs. William Youngberg) of Yucca Valley, California, and Patricia (Mrs. Kenneth Hutzel) of Mesa, Arizona; a brother, Keith Granger and a sister, Ruth (Mrs. Jerry Spencer) both of Arizona; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Internment will be made in West Union, Iowa. A memorial service will be held in Iowa at a later date. Owens Morturary of Show Low, Arizona, is in charge of arrangements.
