Glenn Emil Schave, son of William Fred Schave and Caroline "Lena" (Fischer) Schave, was born May 11, 1920 in Cerro Gordo County, at Carterville, Iowa. He died December 8, 2000 in Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Iowa.

He was baptized June 20, 1920 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. He attended schools in the Rockwell and Mason City areas and also in the Postville area.

On June 30, 1939, in the parsonage of the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, Glen married Dorothy Elma Livingood. To this union three children were born, Sandra Elaine, Mary Ellen, and William Earl ("Bill").

Glen and Dorothy celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in June of this year. Glen served in the Citizen Conservation Corps at Cresco, Iowa. Glen and Dorothy farmed in the Castalia, Postville Junction, Clermont and Gunder areas. Glen hauled canned milk for 18 years for the Carnation Plant at Castalia and the Postville Creamery. They ran the Standard Gas Station and the G and D Cafe in Castalia, the Commercial Hotel in Postville, the Laundromat in Monona, and a salvage yard in Gunder, where they made their home until moving to Postville in 1996. Glen was a member of the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder.

Glen is preceded in death by his mother, Caroline "Lena" (February, 1970), his father, William, (July, 1971), a son-in-law, Marvin Lantz, (April, 1970), a grandson, Robert Earl Lantz, (January, 1973), and two brothers, Harvey (July, 1956), and Clarence (February, 1982).

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, two daughters, Sandra and her husband, Gerald Wander of Clermont, IA, Mary and her husband, Jim Durr, of Dubuque, IA, one son, William Schave and his wife, Carolyn, of Florida; five grandchildren, Michael Lantz and Cathy of Waterloo, Lori and husband, Scott Bushman, of Holy Cross, IA, Richard Durr and wife, Louise, of Florida, Brian Durr and wife, Kristi, of Dubuque, and Amanda Schave and fiance, Steve Rattigan, of Florida; two step great grand- daughters, Tonette and husband, Damon Trostheim, and Crystal Smith; five great grandchildren, Tifani, Tyler and Tony Bushman, Erica Stowers and Cody Durr; two step great great grandchildren, Robbie and Bobbie Smith; two sisters, Vera Pixler of Monona, IA and Lauretta (Roland) Heideman, of Wisconsin and one brother, Vergil (Willemina) Schave of Moline, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Note: a second funeral service was held on December 13 because bad, snowy weather canceled the service on December 11.
