Charles H. Schave, the son of Henry Schave and his wife, Minnie Wedo Schave, was born at Monona, Iowa on September 26, 1890. He was baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Eldorado on June 21, 1891 and confirmed in the same church. He died suddenly at home at the age of 72 years, five months and five days on March 1, 1963.

He was married to Dora Elizabeth Peterson on February 17, 1926. The couple farmed near Postville Junction for 37 years, moving to town December 14, 1962.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Henry of Ossian, John of Minneapolis, George of Castalia, Louis and Fred of Waukon and Albert of Clermont; and one sister, Mrs. Sophie Suckow of West Union.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, William of Castalia, and many other relatives and friends.

He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion.

Funeral services were conducted at the Schutte Funeral in Postville on Monday, March 4, at 1:30 with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating. Burial was in the Castalia Cemetery.
