FUNERAL SERVICE FOR RESPECTED MOTHER IS HELD

Wilhelmina Louise Schroeder (nee Klocke) was born April 3, 1843, in Lefern, Westphalia, Germany, [to Mr. and Mrs. George August Klocke], and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Harnack, on Tuesday, April 10, 1928, at 10 a.m., having attained the age of 85 years and seven days.

In early infancy she became a member of the Lutheran church thru the sacrament of baptism, later on becoming a communicant member by the rite of confirmation.

On September 20, 1877, she was united in matrimony with Ludwig Schroeder and the young couple established their home in the village of Diestal, Westphalia, Germany. Their union was signally blessed with seven children.

In the year 1892 they came to this country and at once settled in this vicinity. In the year 1902 the couple retired and made their home with their son. In 1912 the husband passed to his eternal reward. Since 1915 deceased made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Louis Harnack, and family. Though not able to attend the public services of her church because of the infirmities of age, deceased remained a loyal member of the same. Only three weeks ago she called for her pastor to break to her the bread of life. It was noticed then her sojourn with us would not continue long. Quietly on Tuesday last the summons came and her soul was translated, as we have every reason to believe, because of her baptism and faith in Christ, to heaven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son and a daughter a number of years ago.

Those who mourn her departure from this life are her children, Mrs. Minnie Brainard of Castalia, H. W. Schroeder of this city, Wm. Schroeder of Williamsburg, Louis L. also of Williamsburg and Mrs. Louis Harnack of Postville. The stepchildren are Louis H. Schroeder, Mrs. Fred J. Meyer and Wm. Schroeder of this city, Chris W. Schroeder of Marshfield, Wis.; and beside these a great number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. All will remember her as a very kind and peace-loving mother, neighbor and friend.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at two o'clock last Friday afternoon and the many floral tributes and large congregation of sorrowing friends who assembled to pay the last tribute of respect to the departed all bear eloquent testimony of the love and respect in which she was held.
