Funeral services for Helmuth J. Schutte were held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Charles Miller officiated. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements.

Helmuth John Schutte, son of August and Caroline (Dietrich) Schutte, was born Sept. 28, 1906 in Winneshiek county, near Castalia, IA. He died Sunday, Aug. 26, 1990 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, IA

He was baptized Dec. 26, 1906 and confirmed Sept. 11, 1921 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He attended the rural school near his home.

On Dec. 16, 1931 he married Amanda Block at Nashua, IA. The couple had 2 children. They farmed near Castalia until moving to Postville.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens Group of Castalia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, David Kluth, one brother, Elmer and 2 sisters, Amanda Sander and Florence Miene.

Surviving are his wife, Amanda, a son Leonard, Castalia, a daughter Dorothy (Mrs. John Kluth), Farmersburg, a brother, Walter, Castalia, 2 sisters, Velma Block and Marie (Mrs. Fred Miene), Monona, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Casket bearers: Eugene Schutte, Lloyd Schutte, Willard Sander, Wayne Sander, Bob Miene, Paul Miene.

Honorary casket bearers: Leighton Schlake, Leo Foels, Lorenz Kuhse, Keith Carlson and Otto Miene.
