Died, at her home, 480 Murray Ave., Milwaukee, Wis., Aug. 5th, 1899, of pneumonia, Mrs. P.N. Obertein, nee Elsie Ragan, aged 18 years and 18 days.

Elsie Ragan was born in Postville and grew to young womanhood here. With her mother and sister she went to Milwaukee to reside a few years ago, and in November last she was married to Mr. Obertein, who thus early is left desolate and alone.

The remains arrived here on Tuesday morning and the funeral was held from the Congregational church at 2 o'clock P.M., a large concourse of sympathizing friends attending the services, the interment being in the Postville cemetery.

We have known Elsie ever since infancy and all the family for twenty-four years. Our sympathies are extended to those who mourn. Mrs. Ragan, Bert and Will and Mr. Obertein attended the funeral, returning to Milwaukee on Wednesday.

~Postville Review, Friday, August 11, 1899

Note: The 'Woodmansee' cemetery book has her buried as Elsie Ragan, and does not list her as Elsie Obertein. Elsie's father Ela Ragan & brother Bradford are also buried in the Postville cemetery. Her mother, Jeannette 'Jessie' (Gillen) Ragan is buried in the Arlington Park cemetery, Milwaukee county, Wisconsin. She died in 1925.
