FATAL ACCIDENT IN ALLAMAKEE COUNTY
POSTVILLE, Dec. 1

A terrible and fatal runaway occurred near this place on Saturday. Mr. Mackey, a wealthy farmer residing a short distance from Postville, started with his wife to come to town. On the way, his team, a span of spirited horses, took fright and ran away. While they were dashing along at a furious speed, Mrs. Mackey jumped out of the wagon, striking upon her head with a fearful violence, causing death in a few moments. Her corpse will be taken to New York for burial among her friends. Mrs. Mackey was a women of great personal worth; a loving wife, a tender mother, a faithful friend, a generous neighbor. The sad accident will cast a gloom over the entire community.
