A PIONEER GONE – Died at his home on English Bench, Saturday, Dec. 6th, William Sadler, aged 63 years, 6 months and 9 days. Mr. Sadler was born May 27th, 1837, [Note: transcriber or newspaper misprint, should be 1827] at Thetford, Cambridgeshire, England. He came to this country in 1851, locating at Evansville, Ind., at which place he was married to Mary Bulman. From there he removed to Allamakee county in 1855, where he has since resided. For some months he has suffered from heart trouble and for the past two weeks has failed rapidly. During his sickness of nearly ten months he never was heard to utter a word of discontent. He leaves a wife and six children, Joseph G., Mary E., William M., John B., James E. and Ada J., along with a large circle of friends to mourn his loss. It may be said of him, he had not an enemy, was honest and upright in all his dealings and always kind and generous to those whom it laid in his power to help. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. McCuskey at the home of the deceased on Monday the 8th, at 1 o'clock p.m. and the remains were interred in the family burying ground on the Bench.
