Memorial services were held on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home in LaCrosse, Wisconsin for Jason Daniel Maust, age 20, of LaCrosse who died on Friday, April 26, 2002 at his home. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa.

Jason was born on November 17, 1981 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Danny and Patti (Strong) Maust. He grew up in Stoddard, Wisconsin. Jason was a 2000 graduate of the DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Wisconsin. He was an accomplished athlete, active in track, baseball, and football. In 1999 Jason was selected lineman of the year and named 2nd Team All Conference. He played both offensive and defensive lineman. After his graduation, Jason joined the 107th Maintenance Company, Wisconsin National Guard, Viroqua, Wisconsin and completed six months active duty. Upon completion of his active duty he enrolled in the diesel mechanic program of Western Wisconsin Technical College in LaCrosse. While attending school he worked at the J.F. Brennan Construction Company and the K-Mart Store, both in LaCrosse.

Jason is survived by his parents, Danny and Patti Maust of Stoddard, Wisconsin; his sister Shannon Maust and her fiance' Al Snider of Burnsville, Minnesota; his maternal grandparents Norbert and Loretta Strong of Lansing, Iowa; paternal grandparents Robert and Helen (Gillespie) Maust of New Albin, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents Merle and Julia (Sparks) Strong, Richard and Vernie Lurye (Rush) Stahl and paternal great-grandparents Robert and Freda (Graves) Maust who were Allamakee County, Iowa residents.
