Rossville, Ia., Nov. 12 - Mrs. Mary Stanley, a former Rossville resident, died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.E. Entwistle, of Waukon, at the age of 81 years.
Mrs. Stanley was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Baldwin and was born in Somerset county, Pa., March 7, 1847. While yet a little child she came with her parents to Iowa, settling near Rossville.
On Dec. 12, 1865, Miss Baldwin was married to Benjamin G. Stanley at Rossville by Rev. A. Schofield. They established their home at Rossville, where they resided until Mr. Stanley's death, March 8, 1922, when Mrs. Stanley closed her home and has since resided with her children.
She leaves one son, Edward, of Minneapolis, Minn. and six daughters, Mrs. P.M. Washburn and Mrs. Nate Entwistle, of Waterloo, Iowa; Mrs. Flora Bentley, Cedar Falls, Iowa; Mrs. Grant Beall, Valley City, N.D.; Mrs. Ethel Hammersmith, Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. A.E. Entwistle, Waukon, Iowa; ten grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Dial, Waukon, and one brother, Samuel Baldwin, Waterloo.
Mrs. Stanley joined the Baptist church early in life and retained her membership in the Rossville Baptist church.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Waukon Baptist church, after which interment was made in the Rossville cemetery.
