Floyd Ferris Funeral Held On Friday P. M.

Funeral services were held at the Burke Funeral Chapel Friday afternoon for Floyd Ferris, 69, who passed away Tuesday evening at the La Crosse hospital following surgery. He was taken suddenly ill that morning and rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

He was born June 3rd, 1887 at Church town, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ferris and lived his entire life in northeast Iowa. He assisted his father as butter-maker at the creamery and on Sept. 11, 1917 was married to Blanche Thompson who preceded him in death Sept. 20th, 1950. They lived for a number of years at Burr Oak in Winneshiek county where he was butter-maker at the creamery before returning to Lansing where he was in charge of the Calhoun Creamery again as butter-maker. For the past several years he was employed at the Wagner tavern on upper Main St. They were the parents of one daughter Charlotte, Mrs. Louis Knockle, of Clinton, who survives with her family. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Francis Padden of Postville and Mrs. Otto Hager of Castalia and on brother, Ray of Mason City, all being here for the funeral services which were held Friday afternoon from the Burke Chapel.

Rev. Calvin Willemssen of Maynard officiated at the burial rites and George Aschom was soloist accompanied by organist Evelyn Lenz. Casket bears were Carl Wagner, Carl Hurm, Curtis Lenz, Harold Englehorn, George and Walter Aschom.
