Waukon, Ia. - Eugene Hanson, seven year old grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Almer Hanson, of Waukon, was Allamakee County's first polio victim of 1952.

The boy died Thursday morning in a La Crosse, Wis., hospital, where he had been taken Saturday.

Eugene was the fourth polio case reported in the county.

Martin Bros. Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Waukon, Ia. - Services for Eugene Hanson, seven-year-old Waukon boy who died Thursday of polio at a LaCrosse, Wis. hospital, will be Tuesday afternoon from Martin Brothers Funeral Home to the Old East Paint Creek Church. The Rev. E.O. Baalsom will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. (*see burial note below)

Eugene, Allamakee County's first polio fatality this year, had lived with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Almer Hanson, since shortly after his birth.

Survivors include his grandparents and his mother, Mrs. Robert Winkie, of Waterloo.

*Note: Eugene is buried in the Old West Paint Creek cemetery where his grandparents Almer & Ida Hanson are buried. The funeral probably took place in the Old West Paint Creek church as well.
