Dale Schroeder

Funeral services for Dale Schroeder were held March 4, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated with Rev. David H. Palm assisting. The Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Dale Eugene Schroeder, son of Louis F. and Lena (Behrens) Schroeder, was born Sept. 14, 1927 at Postville, Iowa. He died March 1 at his home in Postville.

He was baptized June 15, 1928 and confirmed April 6, 1941 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He graduated from Postville High School in 1945.

Nov. 20, 1953, he was married to Geraldine Koopman at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville. They are the parents of three sons.

While in high school Dale had been employed as a pinsetter at the Bowling Alley and as a projectionist for Lloyd Palmer at the Iris Theater. He had also been employed by Burr Cook at the Shell Station from 1944 until 1963. In May of 1963, they purchased the Standard Station where they have been in business for 22 years.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and had served on the Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment for the City of Postville.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Palmer and Lowell.

Surviving are his wife, Gerry, three sons, Scott and his wife Lisa, David and Alan, all of Postville, a granddaughter, Amy, three brothers, Elliott of Calmar, Merlin of Decorah and Norman of Postville and two sisters, Ileta (Mrs. Harry W. Tyler) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas and June (Mrs. Fred C. Palmquist) of Postville.

Casket bearers were A. Burr Cook, Dale E. Meyer, Matthew Erickson, Eldean Drewes, Greg Schroeder and Gary Schroeder.
