Services were held Wednesday, August 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville for Mrs. Carl H. Schroeder, who died at the Decorah Retirement Center, August 5. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated.

Maria Friedericke Bertha Meyer, the daughter of William and Louise Meyer, was born May 29, 1885 in Fayette County, Iowa. She was baptized into St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, September 27, 1885 and was confirmed April 3, 1898.

On March 7, 1907 she was married to Carl H. Schroeder and to this union five children were born.

Following her husband's death, Berttha continues to live on the farm, until 1938 when she moved to Postville. She became a resident of the Decorah Retirement Center nine years ago.
