Marvin Dean Schroeder

Funeral services for Marvin Schroeder were held Monday, June 26, 10:30 a.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont. Rev. Ernest Thompson and Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Marvin Dean Schroeder, son of Willard A. and Opal F. (Dennler) Schroeder, was born February 19, 1943 at Elgin, Iowa. He died Thursday afternoon, June 22, 1989 in University Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa.

He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He graduated from Postville Community Schools with the class of 1961. He also attended the Waterloo Barber College in Waterloo, Iowa.

On August 8, 1965, he married Sheryl Butikofer at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. They lived in Postville for 3½ years. In 1969 they moved to Clermont where Marvin owned and operated his own barber shop.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, his parents, Willard and Opal Schroeder, and a brother, Robert, of Postville.

Marvin was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church.

Casket bearers were Roger Meyer, Eugene Lehman, Tom Gehring, Albert Lee Dennler, Jack Dennler, Larry Butikofer, Loren Eberling and Dave Benjegerdes.
