Kenneth J. Gruber, 54, of Marion, passed away suddenly on Monday, Feb. 5, 1996. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Pius X Catholic Church, with military rites. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 and a vigil service begins at 7 tonight.

Ken is survived by his wife of 31 years, Bobbie Gruber, four children, Anne Thing and husband Jeff of Cedar Rapids, Mike Gruber and wife Jayne of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Gruber of Marion and Jim Gruber and wife Janell of Sartell, Minn.; three grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew and Nicole; his mother, Mary Gruber of Waukon; brother, Gerald Gruber of Gibsonia, Pa., and Richard Gruber of Madison, Wis.; sister, Colleen Wuebker of West Bend, Judy Kurth of Reedsburg, Wis., Julie Snitker of Dubuque and Linda Bahr of Caledonia, Minn.

KKen was preceded in death by his father, Harris Gruber, and a brother, Robert Gruber.

Ken was born May 16, 1941, in Waukon, graduated from high school and served his country in the Navy. he moved to Cedar Rapids, where he met his wife and raised a family. He was a devoted family man and a devout Catholic. He was always there for anyone who needed him. He always said he was from "the old school," and he always gave 110 percent. He was a hard worker and never quit until the job was done right. Ken was very active in the business community. Ken had several very successful dealerships through the years, including Gruber Porsche/Audi and Honda/Subaru Cedar Rapids; Metro Motors, Iowa City; Metro Motors Volkswagen, Cedar Rapids; and Gruber Ford, Mercury, Vinton. Ken is loved and respected by his family and friends and many in the community, and he will be greatly missed.

Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post 5. A memorial fund has been established.
