Bernice Jones

Funeral services for Bernice Jones who died in her sleep August 30, were held in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, Saturday, September 1 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dick Harberts officiating.

Bernice Bertha Hilmer, daughter of Albert and Ethel Flage Hilmer, was born February 27, 1919 in Ludlow township in Allamakee County. She spent her childhood there and received her education in Ludlow, Frankville and Postville schools. She was baptized in the West Salem United Church of Christ and confirmed in the Frankville Community Church.

She was married to Virgil Jones and to this union one child was born. Bernice began working at the Allamakee County Home February 14, 1960 and lived there, lending a helping hand where needed.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Janice in infancy. She is survived by her parents; five brothers, Edwin of San Diego, California; Wayne of Dayton, Ohio; Martin and Arlo both of Denver, Colorado and Dennis of Waterloo; also a sister Mrs. Lavern (Irene) Hangartner of Elkhart, Indiana.

Interment was in the Postville cemetery.
