Gerald J. Schwartzhoff, 65, of Living Center West, died Friday, Oct 22, 1999, in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, by the Rev. Karl Glovik. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6p.m. today at Stewart Funeral Home, where a rosary begins at 5:30p.m.
His survivors include his mother, Mary Regan Schwartzhoff of Cedar Rapids; a brother, James and wife Mary Lou of Kettering, Ohio; three sisters, E. Gary Ann Wilson and husband, John of Celina, Ohio, Molly Sue Bredl and husband Jack of Cedar Rapids and Kathryn L. Gregor Lipscomb and husband Darryl of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are Gerald's beloved 22 nieces and nephews, 29 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.He was preceded in death by his father, Harold on Dec. 11, 1995.
Gerald was born April 22, 1934, in Waukon, the son of Harold and Mary Regan Schwartzhoff. He moved with his parents to Cedar Rapids in 1944. He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School and attended Loras College. Gerald worked for Killian's Department Store until they closed, giving them over 25 years of service. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Killian's Retirement Club and the Knights of Columbus.
