Waukon - Philip J. Quillin, one of the most widely known men in Allamakee County, died at his home here Thursday morning following the effect of a paralytic stroke.

He was born February 12, 1869, in Hanover township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Quillen, early residents of that vicinity.

On November 19, 1865 [sic], he was married to Miss Maggie Redding who survives him with the following children: Mrs. Leo Byrnes and John of Waukon, Edward at home, Miss Rose of Dubuque, Frank of Chicago and Sister Mary Constance of Monona, Ia. He also leaves his aged mother, Mrs. Rose Quilin and eleven sisters and brothers who are as follows: Dr. William of Dubuque, Leonard of Lawler, Thomas and Joe of Brownsville, John of Harpers Ferry, Mrs. John Plein of Epworth, Ia., Mrs. Ed. Collins of Spring Valley, Minn., Mrs. Albert Liddiard, Mrs. Mike Sweeney, Mrs. Fred Hancock and Ed., all of Waukon.

A Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated Saturday morning at St. Patrick's Church by Msgr. J.C. Stuart assisted by Rev. Daniel O'Sullivan of Wexford, a former pastor here, and Rev. C.C. Drummy. Other priests present were Rev. Luke Donlan of Monona and Rev. P.H. McNamara of Lycurgus.

Members of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters acted as an escort. Interment was made in Mount Olivet cemetery.
