Funeral services for Dick Jones, 68, were held Monday, September 23, 1991, 11:00 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville. The Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. The organist was Beverly Bacon. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Leslie "Dick" James Jones, son of Edward and Waiv__ Margaret (Cain), was born March 6, 1923, at Clermont, IA. He died Friday, September 20, 1991, in the Americana Healthcare Center at Waterloo, IA.
He attended the Postville Community Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World war II. Dick received the following medals: both the Silver and Bronze Battle Star, Bronze Service Arrowhead, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon.
In July of 1946 he was married to Charldine Marcella Martie at Waukon, IA. They had a daughter, Shelva. Dick drove a deliver truck for the RC Cola Company for many years. He was employed by Hall Roberts' Son until his retirement. He had been a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Postville.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Charldine, who died in 1984, three brothers, LeRoy, Charles and Virgil, and a sister, Betty Jones.
Surviving are his friend, Ruby Wickham, Clermont; a daughter, Shelva, and her husband, Dennis Kohrs, Postville; two grandchildren, Kevin and Shane, and a great granddaughter, Amanda Jean, a sister, Lucille, and her husband, Rodney Anderson, Castalia, and Ruby's family, Marylin Malcom, Clermont; Shirley Sharp, Decorah; and June Larson of Postville; six grandchildren, Tracy Nelson and Ross Malcom; Tiffany and Cortney Lawson, Brenna Cantrell and Bradley Larson; three great-grandchildren, Travis and Caitlin Nelson and Jacinda Cantrell, and several nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers were Tom Jones, Wayne Jones, Robert Jones, Steve Jones, Frank Wickham and Kevin Smith.
