Lois James

Funeral services for Lois James were held Thursday, May 28, 1987 at 10:30 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, IA. The Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Lois Clare James, daughter of Fred and Golda (Mongar) Stover, was born August 6, 1914 at Woodburn, IA. She died Saturday, May 23 in Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN.

She graduated from the Woodburn High School and attended a business school.

February 24, 1934 she married Kermit Monroe James at Bloomfield, IA. They had 2 sons. They had lived in Postville since 1939, where her husband became the manager of the REC. For the past 12 years, Lois has made her home in Stewartville, MN.

She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, and had served as President of the UPW, also a member of O. E. O. Chapter FT and the Order of Eastern Star. Lois took flying lessons at Clermont and obtained her private pilot's license in 1970.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kermit, who died August 30, 1965 and a brother, Wade Stover.

Surviving are 2 sons, William David James, Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering, and his wife, Mary, of Ames, IA and Robert James and his wife, Nadine, of Northfield, NJ, 5 grandchildren, Kevin, Heather and Kara and April and Jeffrey, and 3 brothers, Vance Stover, Stewartville, MN, Vern Stover, Martelle, IA and Max Stover, Houston, TX.

Casket bearers were Kenneth Peake, Dennis Soride, Upton Peck, Clarence Storla, Kermit James Miller and Duane Thompson.
