Kermit M. James, REC Manager
Kermit Monroe James, son of Marcus Alvin and Ruth Emma James, was born June 15, 1904, at Davis City, Iowa.
He passed away at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota, on August 30, 1965 at 8:30 a.m., following an illness of several weeks.
On February 24, 1934 Kermit James was married to Lois Stover at Bloomfield, Iowa.
Kermit James is survived by his wife; two sons, William David James, assistant professor of Aero-Space, Ames, Robert Monroe James, attorney-at-law, Strawberry Point; four sisters, Mrs. Rex Hunt (Ethel), Des Moines, Mrs. Audrey Nelson, Des Moines, Mrs. Mae Reed, Des Moines, Mrs. Harry Runser (Maude) Guernsey, Wyoming; two brothers, Orville James, Mammouth Springs, Arkansas, and Robert V. James, Visalia, California.
Kermit formerly lived in southern Iowa, northern Missouri and Allison, Iowa. He came to Postville in May, 1939, accepting the position of manager of REC. He served in this capacity for 27 years up to the time of his death.
He worked for the Bell Telephone Company, Middlestates Utilities and Butler County Rural Electric Company.
He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Kiwanis Club and Postville Commercial Club.
Masonic services were conducted at the Community Presbyterian Church, Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Ray Douglass in charge, assisted by Rev. Walter T. Martin.
Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
