WATERLOO TOWNSHIP MAN SUICIDES BY HANGING
Waukon Democrat
January 1928Gottlieb Jahn, a farmer residing in Waterloo township, four miles northwest of Dorchester, committed suicide by hanging Tuesday morning. He was unmarried and had lived alone on his 80 acre farm the past year, but was desirous of renting the land and had experienced trouble in the endeavor, over which he grew despondent and ended his life by hanging in the barn.
The body was found by a neighbor, Olaf Overhaug, who notified Coroner Huecker. He and Deputy Sheriff Ben Davis immediately went to the home of the unfortunate man. A jury consisting of John E. Clausen, Alfred Thompson and Arthur Goodno was called, who pronounced it a case of suicide. A note was found in his pocket saying "I am tired of life and afraid I will lose my mind."
Deceased was 45 years of age and possessed considerable means. He was a half brother of Henry Jahn, living near Waukon.
