Harper's Ferry, Ia. - Military memorial services for Pvt. Joseph R. Mohn, who was killed in action in Italy, were held at St. Ann's Church here Thursday. Pvt. Mohn was killed during a battle with Germans on Jan. 4, according to a War Department message to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mohn.

Requiem mass was celebrated by the pastor of St. Ann's, the Rev. John J. Costello, and members of the American Legion attended the services in a body.

Pvt. Mohn was born in 1919 on a farm south of Harper's Ferry and he was educated in the rural schools. He was inducted into the service on May 7, 1942, and embarked for service overseas without having had a furlough.

He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Thomas, in service; Richard, of Waukon, and George, at home; and a sister, Miss Rose Marie, of Milwaukee.

Mohn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mohn, Harpers Ferry, was killed on Jan. 4. He was the second Harpers Ferry war casualty. The first was Marine Pfc. Victor M. Duman*, who died in the Pacific war zone.
