Ernest C. Irons, 81, of New Albin, died Monday, April 7 in a Waukon hospital.

He was born April 10, 1893, at New Albin, to Mr. and Mrs. William Irons. He married Ruth Thompson Dec. 29, 1915, in New Albin.

Survivors are his widow; three sons, Benjamin Irons of Lansing, Robert of Waukon, and Wayne of Davenport; seven daughters, Mrs. Laura Karczewski of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Ruth Zeiner of Waterloo, Mrs. Clifford (Barbara) Mellem of Ferryville, Wis., Mrs. Marjorie Haar of Oelwein, Mrs. Loren (Beverly) Smiley of Kewaunee, Wis., Mrs. Milton (Lorna) Strong of La Crosse, Wis., and Mrs. Edward (Karen) Nichols of Roselle, Ill.; 50 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roland (Jack) Irons of Houston, Minn., and Stanley of Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Mildred) Hicks of Seal Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Bryan (Ann) Coe of Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Grace United Methodist Church, New Albin. Rev. C. Kent Wever will officiate and burial will be in the New Albin cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the New Albin Funeral Chapel. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home of Lansing is in charge of arrangements.
