Steven Joseph Darling, 20, of New Albin, died of injuries sustained in a one-car crash early Saturday morning, Sept. 17, about six miles north of New Albin on Minnesota Highway 26.

He was born Dec. 31, 1956, in Waukon, to Elton and Donna (Thomson) Darling. He graduated from Kee High School in 1975. For the past two years he had been employed as a meat cutter at Bakalars Bros. Sausage Company of La Crosse, WI.

He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Michael serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Bradley, and Mark, 10, at home. He is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Donald Thomson of New Albin.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin, with Rev. Linus Rasing officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kerry Darling, Gary leppert, Tom Feuerhelm, Bill Schulte, Fred Wiemerslage and Dennis Bahr.

The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.
