Rowland Harry Sommermeyer passed away early Sunday morning at his home following a heart attack. He was born in Jefferson Township, Houston County, Minn., Nov. 17, 1924, a son of Otto and Elsie (Arndt) Sommermeyer. He attended rural schools and New Albin High School, and on April 23, 1952, was married to Donna Russell who survives him along with their only son, Rowland Jr. Besides the above mentioned, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Wesley Schroeder of Mazomanie, WI; and three brothers, Milton of New Albin, Orville of Iowa City, and Robert of Madison, WI. One sister, Mrs. Harold Fritz, also survives, along with a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. he served with the Army during World War II, and since then has been engaged in road construction work with various firms in this vicinity.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from St. Peter's Evangelic and Reformed Church, New Albin, with the Rev. Burrichter officiating, at two o'clock. Burial will be in the New Albin cemetery with full military honors, and pallbearers selected were longtime friends, Freeman Fink, Fred Breeser, Les Wiemerslage, Frank Holland, Giles Tiermen and Norbert Plagge.
