Services for Lawrence A. Walleser, 28, R.1 La Crescent, MN, will be Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. in the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, La Crescent, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hokah, MN. The Rev. Douglas Gits will officiate and burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 6 to 9 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 8 p.m.

Walleser took his own life near his home on Monday, April 18.

he was born on Dec. 18, 1954, in Waukon, to Lawrence H. and Esther (Hammell) Walleser.

He was employed by the Milwaukee Road railroad.

Survivors are his wife, the former Mary Beth Springer; one daughter, Rebecca Amy, at home; his parents of Lansing; eight sisters, Mrs. Alton (Theresa) Key of Marshall, WI, Mrs. Daniel (Mary) Delaney and Rita, Anita and Esther Walleser, all of Lansing, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Batteen of Urbana, IA, Mrs. Francis (Jean) Ottoway of McGregor, and Mrs. Phillip (Elizabeth) Anderson of Waterloo; seven brothers, Joseph of Harpers Ferry, Allen of Houston, MN, and Melvin, Fred, Carl, Byron and Ted, all of Lansing; and his maternal grandfather, George Hammell of Lansing.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother and his paternal grandparents.
