George W.C. Meyer, 89, New Albin, died Thursday, Dec. 27, in a La Crosse, WI, hospital.
He was born July 7, 1890, in Jefferson Township, MN (Houston County), to William and Catherine (Kruse) Meyer. He married Caroline Meyer on July 22, 1915, in Union City Township, IA (Allamakee County).
They farmed in Iowa Township until 1962, when they moved to New Albin.
Meyer had been a resident at Thornton Manor Nursing Home, Lansing, for the past month.
Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Irma Johnson of Borlange, Sweden, and Mrs. Roy (Lillian) Wuennecke and Mrs. Elmer (Gladys) Heitman, both of New Albin; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ near New Albin. The Rev. Richard Waters will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the New Albin Chapel of the Potter-Haugen Funeral Home today after 4 p.m., and at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the services.
