James Cletus Spinner, 57, passed away Saturday morning at the Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital where he was taken a few days earlier.
He was born in Lansing, May 7, 1912, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spinner. He attended Immaculate Conception School in Lansing. On July 13, 1930, he married Doris May of New Albin, and since that time lived most of his life here. For the last several years his health had been failing and he worked for the city of New Albin.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters. They are Mrs. Robert Stattleman (Rita) of Topeka, KS, Mrs. Dale Hutchings (Jean) of Spring Lake Park, MN, Mrs. Tom Pottratz (June) of Florisant, MO, Robert Spinner of Topeka, KS, Tim of La Crosse, WI, and Thomas of New Albin. There are two brothers, Frank of Minneapolis, and Raymond of Waukon, and three sisters, Marie, Leonette and Eleanor, all of New York City.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from Burke Funeral Home to St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Acting as casket bearers were Alvin Sires, Mike Spinner, Jim Mitchell, Dennis O'Malley, Raymond Spinner and Jack Sweeney.
