Charlene J. Jones, 76, of Dubuque, Iowa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20th, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. According to her wishes there will be no public service or visitation. A private family burial will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dubuque, Iowa.

Charlene was born on May 29, 1940 at her rural home near Waterville, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel Clark and Vera (Hamm) Nichols. She attended a one room country school house at Sixteen in Linton Township in Allamakee County, Iowa and graduated in 1958 from the Waterville High School.Charlene was employed with Younkers and Armstrongs Department Stores in Dubuque and was an "Avon Lady" for many years.

She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved the outdoors, sports, music, dancing, and sitting on her sun porch. Charlene had a huge heart and helped many people through the years. She was an amazing mother to her four children and had a helping hand in raising all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by everyone.

Charlene is survived by her four children: Leslie Houselog, Reggie Jones, Angela (Frank) Woods, and Corey Jones. Her grandchildren: Melissa and Sam Houselog, Vito and Jack Freese, Nicole (Mitch) Milligan, Tiffany Woods, Chuckie (Sheyanne) Woods, and Andrew, Tyler, and Hannah Jones. Her great-grandchildren: Seth and Aubrianna Houselog, Jamare and Jakobe Bell, Ayden Milligan, and Kendall Rose Woods. She is also survived by her brother, Chad (Laura) Nichols, and two sisters, Elaine and June Nichols.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Carol Nichols.
