Lansing- Mrs. N. A. Nelson, a resident of Lansing for 63 years, passed away at her home near the park Dec. 28, after a long illness.
Anna Marie Jacobson was born in Norway June 25, 1841, coming to Allamakee county with her parents in 1850. She has been a resident of Lansing since her marriage in 1864 to N. A. Nelson, who preceded her in death Sept. 10, (looks like 1922).
Eleven children were born to this union, five of whom have passed away; Louisa, Selma, Hulda, Klara and Albert. Surviving Mrs. Nelson are two sons and four daughters; Leonard, Walter and Mrs. M. Christensen, of Chicago; Nora, of Cedar Rapids; Mrs. M. U. Chesire, Marshalltown, and Emma, at home; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, M. T. Jacobson, of Waterville, Iowa, and four sisters, Mrs. O. H. Bjerke, of Minneapolis; Mrs. E. M. Erickson, of Lacrosse; Mrs. I. Johnson and Nettie Jacobson, of Waterville.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of the N. E. L. church and a charter member of the Ladies' Aid society. For sixty years she has lived in the old home on Fifth street.
The funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Wareberg. The pallbearers were Messrs. J. D. Johnson, Clemens Rick, John R. Johnson, Ole Moe, M. Simonson and C. O. Rud. Interment in the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery.
