Dubuque Telegraph Herald – November 1, 1949

Waukon, Ia. – Final rites for Mrs. Carolina Kant, 84, are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon from the Martin Brothers Funeral Home to the Zion Reformed Church. The Rev. Edmond Henning will officiate and burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. Kant died Sunday at the home of her niece,, Mrs. Ludwig Larson, of Waukon.

The former Caroline Saevert was born Nov 15. 1864 in Brandenburg, Germany. At the age of 16 she came with her parents to Allamakee County and settled on a farm near Waukon. In 1892 she was married to William Kant and they established their home on a farm east of Thompson Corner. After her husband’s death she moved to Waukon.

Her close test survivors are nieces and nephews.
